Situated 10 km from south of Hua
Hin in the village of Tub Tai, one can witness a big Huay Mongkol temple which
has displayed the largest statue of Buddhist monk Luand Phor Thuad on its
premises. This statue is immensely popular among local as well as international
tourists and the consistent crowd during weekends and weekdays at this place
confirms never ending popularity of this temple. This monk was highly popular
among people for his different kinds of miracles. The main attraction of the
place is the big statue of monk perched on the top of premises outside the
monastery, which is about 12m high and 10m wide.
The monk Luang Phor Thuad who was also
known as Luang Phor Thuat graced this planet some 400 years back in Southern HuaHin Thailand.
This monk was prominently known among people for his great deeds and for performing
miracles which everyone cannot do. It is said that this monk had once turned
the salt water into fresh water which was fit for drinking purpose. Many such events
are in talk among locals.
You have to climb up lots of stairs
for reaching to this giant statue of monk and those who already have been to
this place suggested carrying bottle of water and a sunscreen in order to save
health as well look. People have great reverence for this place and they come
here to pay their respect to this great person and pray for favor, good luck,
health, fortune, happiness and prosperity for them. This place has been
beautifully decorated and things have been managed very intrinsically. Two huge
wooden elephants have been placed on each side of the statue. There is a myth
that those who managed to pass under the belly of elephants are blessed with
good fortune. At this place, one can also find a Buddhist temple, the statue of
king Taksin sitting on a horse and few outlets where Buddhist amulets can be
found. This has been considered as a sacred place in many means which holds
great power and can provide relief from natural disasters and other bad
happenings.
The environment of Thailand
Hua Hin in which it has been situated is very cool and provides great
calmness. After completing the journey of few hours, one can sit at this park
like environment and relax for hours. Couple of hours will pass here like few
minutes. The lakes, bridges, waterfalls, streams, cool and shady places and
such more make it a better place to spend quality moments of life near nature.
Many restaurants offering Thai food can be found around this place. So, this is
not a place where you can witness some historic moments, enjoy moments of
tranquility and pamper your taste buds with different delicious foods. Near to
this place is Wat Huay Mongkol which is also considered as a worth place to
visit. The combination of many perfect things together make it a must visit
